Our Programs
Morning Program
2, 3, or 5 mornings a week
Join us 2, 3 or 5 mornings a week from 9:00 to 11:40am. The morning programs offer a balance of structured time that includes interactive circle time, small group activities, time for exploration, play and inquiry. Throughout the morning your child is free to play independently or with educator guidance, and create with a variety of art materials. Healthy snacks are provided, and menus rotate weekly. Weather permitting, we enjoy playing and exploring in our beautiful outdoor space too.
You can choose to register as a volunteer family, or non-volunteer family.
Volunteer and Non-Volunteer rates for this program are outlined below.
Ready to Learn (RTL)
2, 3, or 5 afternoons a week
Join us 2, 3 or 5 afternoons a week from 1:00 to 3:40 pm. Pearson’s exclusive Ready-to-Learn (RTL) program is a more structured preschool experience with additional learning elements such as a STEAM program run by The Learning Tree, fitness programming with Coach David and music classes with Suzie Sunshine. There is an emphasis on early literacy in the RTL class, which utilizes components of the Jolly Phonics program. Your child will practice skills such as letter and word recognition through phonics strategies.
We do not have parents volunteering in our afternoon programs.
Co-Operative Responsibilities:
As a co-operative school, you are an integral part of the operation of the school. In addition to our teaching team, Pearson Community Co-op Nursery School is administered by a parent Executive Board and run by parent committees. As a member of Pearson Co-op, each family has a volunteer committee responsibility or is a member of the Executive Board, and must attend three General Meetings throughout the school year.
Volunteer vs Non-Volunteer:
Pearson’s morning programs are organized with Volunteer and Non-Volunteer memberships. Limited enrolment (at a reduced fee) is available for Volunteer parents who help out in the classroom on a rotating basis twice a month. Teachers provide orientation and training to all duty parents, who must pass a police check with vulnerable sector screening and provide proof of immunization.
There is no in-class volunteer requirement in our afternoon programs.
